Cement maker India Cements has ended its ties with Coramandel Infotech India Ltd (C2il) with which it had an “in-house” ERP and has named Tekplay Systems Limited, a digital business transformation company for its IT services, a top official said.
“It is a different day for us at India Cements. We had a policy that had us pursuing projects towards cement only. Now, however, we have developed an initiative to improve our management system and focus on our growth better. I am proud to announce that Tekplay is now in play,” said India Cements vicechairman and managing director N Srinivasan during the brand launch function of Tekplay Systems Ltd here on Saturday.
“When India Cements expanded capacity in early 90s, it had developed an ‘in-house’ ERP with C2il. Our association with them began in early 2,000 and since then they have been maintaining our entire IT infrastructure,” he added.
Tekplay will be taking over the business verticals of C2il and looks to tap the big opportunity in the sphere of digital business transformation as part of foraying into new technology platforms, he said adding that India Cements is the largest client for Tekplay and does not have any members in its management committee, nor has it invested in the newly formed company.
Tekplay Systems executive director Prabhuram Ramanathan said, “We will be operational from 1 April. We are razor-focussed on major top-line growth in the next five years. Digital transformation is the next big thing in IT industry, with markets being expected to double in the near future. We plan to grab a higher market share, driving growth through both organic and inorganic expansions. We are very lean and collaborate with our clients to develop tailor-made solutions that make their technology future ready, thus enabling faster decision making and increasing their speed to market.”
He added that the company aims to garner over $100 million by 2020 and will employ about 2,000 employees. “Our revenue is $20 million now and we have 40 clients with us now and about 400 employees working for us around the world. Over the next three years, we will get between $5-10 million in funds for investment. Talks are at an advanced stage with our investors from the US and so is our acquisition plans in Singapore as well,” said Prabhuram.
The service line of Tekplay include digital technology consulting, enterprise solutions, business analytics and digital workforce.
It has opened a development centre in San Jose, an office in New Jersey and is looking for another one in Atlanta. In India, it is functioning at Chennai, New Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
